PSBB school Siruseri celebrated Christmas and KarthigaiDeepam in a grand way on Dec 15th 2011.
The children of KG presented a musical Christmas nativity on the birth of Jesus Christ. They mentioned about how Christmas is celebrated all over the world by singing hymns and carols and how Saint Nicholas fondly called as Santa Claus visits the children and gifts them on this special day. A special mention was also made about Christmas being celebrated in Australia where it is a summer Christmas.
The Karthigaicelebrations was for the children of Std I to Std V. The children of Std I and II sang a melodious song on the festival of lights while the students of Std III and IV performed a fantastic folk dance.
The children of Std V presented the significance of the month of Karthigai and KarthigaiDeepam. The confluence of Saivism and Vaishnavism, the two eyes of Hinduism was ably demonstrated by the children when they explained the significance of worshipping the DamodaraDeepam and TripurantakaDeepam on the Karthigai full moon day. It was explained that Karthigaiis the month heralding the advent of pilgrimage season to the holy shrine of sabrimala, the abode of Hari Hara putra.
