The Scholastic Writing Awards were instituted to encourage children to write original poems and short stories in English and Hindi. One of the winners this year, in the poetry contest is Anahita.G of PSBB KKN.She gets Rs.5000/- as prize money, Gift vouchers and books.

The Unknown.
The rising sun
Soft and tender
Touched each flower,
With its gentle rays
And sprayed all things
With its colourful hues,
With gentle waves,
That morning was different.
Who knew that the unknown
Would take everyone unawares!
Big monstrous waves,
Engulfed all those
Who loved to be out
That hour of the day
Little did they know
That these hungry waves
Were called " TSUNAMI "!
The killer waves that morning,
Gripped the city
Of its joyous day.
