On 16 and 17 August 2010 PSBB KKN was privileged to attend a Visual Libraries workshop organized by British Council Chennai. On 19 August 2010, PSBB KKN welcomed guests from Portsmouth University, UK associated with the Visual Libraries Project.
This unique project is designed to stimulate the critical and creative ability of learners by encouraging them to ‘leave a mark’ on the sketch books provided in the library or activity rooms.
Maureen O' Neill and Claire Sambrooke from Portsmouth University had an informal discussion with the senior leadership team and also responded to the queries of the members of the media club. The English guests with Mrs. Asha Balaji, co-ordinator of the programme from the British Council Chennai, had a quick tour of the school.
They visited the Creative English Lab, libraries, playground and swimming pool, the centres of relaxed activity for our learners, both young and not so young.
They left with the fond hope that each student would enjoy leaving his mark on the sketch book provided, which in turn, would travel distances to find readers near and far.
An opportunity of varied dimensions offered!
